* Flash Flood Warning for…
Southeastern Hemphill County in the panhandle of Texas…
Northern Wheeler County in the panhandle of Texas…

* Until 1045 PM CDT.

* At 850 PM CDT, the public reported thunderstorms producing heavy
rain in Wheeler, TX. The expected rainfall rate is 1.5 to 2 inches
in 1 hour. Flash flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD…Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE…Public reported.

IMPACT…Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include…
Briscoe, Wheeler, Allison, New Mobeetie and Mobeetie.

Instructions

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
