Details

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…Northeastern Hitchcock County in southwestern Nebraska…
Northwestern Red Willow County in southwestern Nebraska…

* WHEN…Until 200 PM CDT Friday.

* IMPACTS…Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 757 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly
in the warned area. Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen.
– Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
expected.
– Some locations that will experience flooding include…
McCook and Culbertson.

Instructions

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
