…The National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio TX has issued
a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Texas…

West Nueces River At Brackettville affecting Uvalde and Kinney
Counties.

* WHAT…Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE…West Nueces River at Brackettville.

* WHEN…From this afternoon to tomorrow morning.

* IMPACTS…At 15.0 feet, Minor lowland flooding is over one hundred
twenty yards wide at the gauge in one channel, and a second
channel is fifteen yards wide. Secondary roads and crossings near
the river are flooded and dangerous to motorists.
At 17.0 feet, Moderate flooding over 200 yards wide exceeds the
right bank well into the flood plain. Livestock from the
headwaters to the Nueces River confluence should be moved from
vulnerable areas of the flood plain.
At 18.0 feet, Major flooding two hundred fifty yards wide puts
secondary roads and low bridges downstream under several feet of
fast moving water. Livestock near the channel are cut off and
potentially drowned.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 4:30 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 4.3 feet.
– Bankfull stage is 9.0 feet.
– Forecast…The river is expected to rise above flood stage
this afternoon to a crest of 16.1 feet late this afternoon.
It will then fall below flood stage this evening.
– Flood stage is 15.0 feet.

Instructions

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths
occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges,
dips, or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream,
even a small one, on foot. To escape rising water find another route
over higher ground.
