…The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a Flood
Warning for the following rivers in Iowa…

Walnut Creek at Des Moines 63rd St affecting Polk County.

* WHAT…Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE…Walnut Creek at Des Moines 63rd St, or from 1 1/3 miles
upstream of North Walnut Creek to the Raccoon River.

* WHEN…Until this afternoon.

* IMPACTS…At 13.0 feet, Walnut Hill Dr is closed. Lowland flooding
occurs along the east river bank downstream of 63rd St. At 14.0
feet, N Valley Dr is closed. Water affects Hoak Rd between Center
St as well as the levee affecting several businesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 1:16 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 12.9 feet, and rising.
– Forecast…The river is expected to rise above flood stage early
this morning to a crest of 14.8 feet early this morning. It will
then fall below flood stage late this morning.
– Flood stage is 14.0 feet.

Instructions

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
