The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for…
Buchanan County in northeastern Iowa…
Northern Benton County in east central Iowa…
Northwestern Linn County in east central Iowa…

* Until 745 AM CDT.

* At 653 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Fairbank to near Tf Clark State Park, moving
east at 55 mph.

HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include…
Independence, Vinton, Jesup, Center Point, Urbana, Fairbank,
Winthrop, Hazleton, Walker, Quasqueton, Lamont, Brandon, Rowley,
Aurora, Mount Auburn, Stanley, Troy Mills, Wapsipinicon Golf
Course, Vinton Memorial Airport, and Fontana County Park.

This includes Interstate 380 between mile markers 33 and 55.

Instructions

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
sturdy building.

Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature’s leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
