The National Weather Service in North Platte has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for…
South central Cherry County in north central Nebraska…
Northeastern Grant County in west central Nebraska…
Hooker County in west central Nebraska…

* Until 915 PM MDT.

* At 824 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Whitman, or
22 miles west of Mullen, moving east at 40 mph.

HAZARD…70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable
tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes,
roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include…
Mullen, Whitman, Carr Lake, Highway 97 crossing the Dismal River,
Hecla, Kelso, and Weir.

This includes the following highways…
Highway 2 between mile markers 155 and 194.
Highway 97 between mile markers 53 and 73.

Instructions

Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside
should move immediately to shelter inside a strong building. Stay
away from windows.
