Special Weather Statement issued July 9 at 7:29PM MDT by NWS North Platte NE
Details
At 728 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 7 miles west of Grant to 14 miles southwest of
Champion. Movement was east at 30 mph.
HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 50 mph.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include…
Imperial, Grant, Madrid, Enders, Enders Reservoir State Recreation
Area, Champion, Crete, Chase, Center Dam Campground, Brandon,
Wanamaker State Wildfire Management Area, Area A Campground, and
Church Grove Campground.
This includes Highway 61 between mile markers 25 and 71.
Instructions
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
If on or near Enders Reservoir, get out of the water and move
indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to
10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you
are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter
now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM MDT for
southwestern Nebraska.
