The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for…
Central Neosho County in southeastern Kansas…

* Until 230 AM CDT.

* At 1020 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.

HAZARD…Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
producing flash flooding.

SOURCE…Radar.

IMPACT…Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include…
Erie and St. Paul.

This includes the following streams and drainages…
Little Walnut Creek, Pecan Creek, Ogeese Creek, Rock Creek,
Canville Creek, Little Elk Creek, Murphy Creek, Flat Rock Creek,
Turkey Creek, Pony Creek, Neosho River, Walnut Creek, Labette
Creek, Fourmile Creek, Elk River and Bachelor Creek.

Instructions

Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two
feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don’t
drown.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
