…The National Weather Service in Wichita KS has issued a Flood
Warning for the following rivers in Kansas…

Walnut River at Winfield affecting Butler and Cowley Counties.

Walnut River at Augusta affecting Butler and Cowley Counties.

Walnut River at Arkansas City affecting Cowley County.

* WHAT…Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE…Walnut River at Augusta.

* WHEN…From Friday morning to Saturday morning.

* IMPACTS…At 24.0 feet, A narrow strip of about 80 feet on the
right bank begins to overflow.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 2:00 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 6.2 feet.
– Forecast…The river is expected to rise above flood stage
tomorrow morning to a crest of 24.5 feet early tomorrow
afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage tomorrow
evening.
– Flood stage is 23.0 feet.

Instructions

Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two
feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don’t
drown.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
