…The National Weather Service in Wichita KS has issued a Flood
Warning for the following rivers in Kansas…

Walnut River at Winfield affecting Butler and Cowley Counties.

Walnut River at Augusta affecting Butler and Cowley Counties.

Walnut River at Arkansas City affecting Cowley County.

* WHAT…Moderate flooding is forecast.

* WHERE…Walnut River at Winfield.

* WHEN…From late tonight to Monday afternoon.

* IMPACTS…At 28.0 feet, West 14th Avenue near the fairgrounds,
floods from the river on eastward to the levee.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 2:00 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 6.3 feet.
– Forecast…The river is expected to rise above flood stage
late tonight to a crest of 27.5 feet Saturday evening. It
will then fall below flood stage early Monday morning.
– Flood stage is 18.0 feet.

Instructions

Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two
feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don’t
drown.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
