Details
* WHAT…Peak heat index values between 100 to 105 expected.
* WHERE…Portions of west central Illinois, east central and
southeast Iowa, and northeast Missouri.
* WHEN…Until 8 PM CDT this evening.
* IMPACTS…Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…A round of scattered showers and thunderstorms
is expected this morning into the early afternoon, mainly for
counties along and north of I-80. The rain and lingering cloud
cover could hold peak heat indices lower than currently forecast
for areas north of I-80.
Instructions
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
