Details
* WHAT…Heat index values up to 105 expected Monday afternoon.
Overnight temperature recovery into the upper 60s to low 70s will
also lead to increased heat stress.
* WHERE…In Kansas, Cheyenne KS, Decatur, Graham, Norton, Rawlins,
Sheridan, and Thomas Counties. In Nebraska, Dundy, Hitchcock, and
Red Willow Counties.
* WHEN…From 7 AM CDT /6 AM MDT/ Monday to 1 AM CDT /midnight MDT/
Tuesday.
* IMPACTS…Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat events.
Instructions
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
