The National Weather Service in Aberdeen has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for…
Southeastern Hand County in central South Dakota…
Northeastern Buffalo County in central South Dakota…

* Until 500 PM CDT.

* At 408 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Pleasant
Valley Country Church, or 21 miles south of Miller, moving
northeast at 20 mph.

HAZARD…Two inch hail and 70 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE…Trained weather spotters. At 356 PM, 70 mph winds and
golf ball to baseball sized hail was reported 6 miles
west of Highway 45 on the Hand and Buffalo county line.

IMPACT…People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail
damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect
considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to
mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

* This severe thunderstorm will be near…
Pleasant Valley Country Church and Danforth around 415 PM CDT.
Sunshine Bible Academy around 425 PM CDT.

Other locations in the path of this severe thunderstorm include
Rosehill Dam.

Instructions

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside
should move immediately to shelter inside a strong building. Stay
away from windows.
