The National Weather Service in Dodge City has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for…
Scott County in west central Kansas…
Northwestern Ness County in west central Kansas…
Western Trego County in west central Kansas…
Lane County in west central Kansas…

* Until 900 PM CDT.

* At 802 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Park to 9 miles southwest of Gove to near Scott
State Lake, moving south at 25 mph.

HAZARD…70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable
tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes,
roofs, and outbuildings.

Scott State Lake around 805 PM CDT.

Other locations in the path of these severe thunderstorms include
Scott City, Healy, Manning, Shields and Grigston.

Instructions

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

If on or near Scott State Lake, get away from the water and move
indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to
15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you
are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter
now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
