The National Weather Service in Rapid City has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for…
Eastern Mellette County in south central South Dakota…
Northwestern Tripp County in south central South Dakota…

* Until 545 AM CDT.

* At 451 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 12 miles north of
Wood, or 14 miles northeast of White River, moving northeast at 40
mph.

THIS IS A DESTRUCTIVE STORM FOR CENTRAL MELLETTE COUNTY.

HAZARD…80 mph wind gusts and two inch hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be heavily damaged. Expect
considerable damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles.
Extensive tree damage and power outages are likely.

* Locations impacted include…
White River, Wood, Butte Creek, Horse Creek and Swift Bear.

Instructions

Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Seek shelter
immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built
structure.
