Details

At 257 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Wathena, moving northeast at 35 mph.

HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.

Locations impacted include…
St. Joseph, Wathena, Elwood, Country Club Villa, Country Club,
Stewartsville, Agency, Union Star, Rushville, Clarksdale, Easton,
Cosby, St. Joseph Airport, and Helena.

This includes the following highways…
Interstate 29 between mile markers 38 and 54.
Interstate 229 between mile markers 0 and 11.

Instructions

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement
agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service
office in Pleasant Hill.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 600 AM CDT for
northeastern Kansas.
