Details
At 1123 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7
miles south of Britt, or 12 miles southwest of Garner, moving
northeast at 50 mph.
HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail and additional
heavy rainfall of one to two inches.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible. Ponding of water on roadways, low visibilities,
and rises in small streams and creeks.
Locations impacted include…
Mason City, Forest City, Garner, Belmond, Britt, Clear Lake, Eagle
Lake, Mason City Municipal Airport, Ventura, Kanawha, Klemme,
Thornton, Wesley, Fertile, Corwith, Leland, Meservey, Crystal Lake,
Hanlontown, and Swaledale.
This includes Interstate 35 between mile markers 182 and 202.
Instructions
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
