Special Weather Statement issued July 20 at 6:12AM CDT by NWS Duluth MN
Details
Dry conditions and very strong west winds will lead to near
critical fire weather conditions today. West winds of 10 to 20
mph with gusts of 30 to 35 mph are forecast for the entire day
Minimum relative humidity values of 40 to 50 percent are also
expected, possibly drier in northern Saint Louis county where
overnight showers and storms only brough a few hundreths of an
inch of rain. Higher rainfall amounts did fall in northern Cook
and Lake Counties on the order of a quarter to half inch, but
skies will partially clear out quickly today leading to drying
condiitons. Together, these conditions could lead to the rapid
spread of fires. Check burning restrictions and fire danger before
burning.
For more information on burning restrictions for Minnesota, see
