Details

At 819 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms along a line extending from near Willisville to near
Pittsburg. Movement was east at 35 mph.

HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 50 mph.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include…
Carbondale, Marion, Herrin, West Frankfort, Murphysboro, Benton, Du
Quoin, Pinckneyville, Carterville, Johnston City, Christopher, Rend
Lake Area, Sesser, Zeigler, De Soto, Crainville, Cambria, Royalton,
Energy, and Elkville.

This includes the following highways…
Interstate 24 in Illinois near Mile Marker 1.
Interstate 57 in Illinois between Mile Markers 44 and 80.

Instructions

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until midnight CDT for
south central and southern Illinois…and southeastern Missouri.
