* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for…
Cedar County in east central Iowa…
Eastern Johnson County in east central Iowa…
Jones County in east central Iowa…
Northwestern Muscatine County in east central Iowa…
Southern Linn County in east central Iowa…

* Until 1015 PM CDT.

* At 907 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from Cedar Rapids to Twin View Heights to near Sharon
Center, moving east at 40 mph.

HAZARD…70 mph wind gusts and nickel size hail.

SOURCE…Trained weather spotters.

IMPACT…Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to
mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include…
Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Anamosa, Tipton, West Branch,
Mechanicsville, Stanwood, Marion, Coralville, Hiawatha, Mount
Vernon, West Liberty, Lisbon, Solon, Ely, Springville, University
Heights, Lowden, Hills, and Olin.

This includes the following highways…
Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 242 and 276.
Interstate 380 between mile markers 17 and 24.

Instructions

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
sturdy building.

Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature’s leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
