Details

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…Portions of central and south central Kansas, including
the following counties, in central Kansas, Rice. In south central
Kansas, Butler, Cowley, Kingman, Reno, Sedgwick and Sumner.

* WHEN…Until 1000 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS…Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 515 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen with some locally higher amounts.
– Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in
the warned area.
– Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Hutchinson, Arkansas City, Winfield, Wellington, Goddard,
Kingman, South Hutchinson, Sterling, Cheney, Douglass, Belle
Plaine, Conway Springs, Haven, Nickerson, Oxford, Garden
Plain, Mount Hope, Udall, Pretty Prairie and Andale.

Instructions

Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two
feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don’t
drown.
