The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for…
Cherokee County in southeastern Kansas…
Jasper County in southwestern Missouri…

* Until 1115 PM CDT.

* At 1018 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Hepler to near Parsons to near Elk City, moving
southeast at 40 mph.

HAZARD…70 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable
tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes,
roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include…
Joplin, Carthage, Webb City, Carl Junction, Baxter Springs,
Columbus, Galena, Oronogo, Carterville, Duquesne, Sarcoxie,
Duenweg, Jasper, Cherokee, Airport Drive, Weir, Lowell, Alba,
Sherman, and Scammon.

This includes Interstate 44 near mile marker 0, and between mile
markers 10 and 32.

Instructions

This is a DANGEROUS SITUATION. These storms are producing widespread
wind damage across southeast Kansas. SEEK SHELTER NOW inside a
sturdy structure and stay away from windows! Torrential rainfall is
occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not
drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
