…The National Weather Service in Aberdeen has issued a Flood
Warning for the following rivers in South Dakota…

Big Sioux River near Castlewood affecting Hamlin County.

.For sites with a river forecast, the forecast includes precipitation
through the next 24 hours. Any future precipitation could affect the
forecasts.

* WHAT…Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE…Big Sioux River near Castlewood.

* WHEN…From this afternoon to late tonight.

* IMPACTS…At 9.0 feet, water overtops the culvert on 184th Street
and significant agricultural flooding begins north of Castlewood.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 4:45 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 9.0 feet.
– Recent Activity…The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending
at 4:45 PM CDT Thursday was 9.0 feet.
– Forecast…The river is expected to fall below flood stage this
evening and continue falling to 5.6 feet early Tuesday afternoon.
– Flood stage is 9.0 feet.

Instructions

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars
through flooded areas.
