The National Weather Service in El Paso Tx/Santa Teresa has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for…
Southwestern Otero County in south central New Mexico…
Northeastern El Paso County in western Texas…

* Until 1100 PM MDT.

* At 910 PM MDT, A line of thunderstorms extended from near McGregor
Range Base south through the Hueco Mountains. Radar estimates
rainfall rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour. This will likely cause
flooding in arroyos around Hueco Tanks, and in nearby poor
drainage areas north and south of Highway 62-180, especially east
of Red Sands.

HAZARD…Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT…Flash flooding of arroyos, roads, and underpasses as
well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include…
Hueco Tanks, McGregor Range Base, Hueco Mountain Estates,
Butterfield and Homestead Meadows.

Instructions

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
