Northeastern Dakota County in northeastern Nebraska…
* Until 730 AM CDT.
* At 437 AM CDT, Radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain
across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 2 inches of rain have
fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are possible in
the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.
HAZARD…Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE…Broadcast media reported.
IMPACT…Flash flooding of urban areas, highways, streets and
underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low- lying
areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include…
Sioux City and South Sioux City.
Broadcast media reported water covering the intersection of 15th
Street and G Street in South Sioux City. Additional rainfall from
thunderstorms could exacerbate flooding in this area as well as poor
drainage areas around the city.
Instructions
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
