* WHAT…Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
expected.

* WHERE…Southeastern Otero County in south central New Mexico…
Northern Hudspeth County in western Texas…

* WHEN…Until 945 AM MDT Friday.

* IMPACTS…Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not
be passable. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water. It
will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work
through washes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 1257 AM MDT, Thunderstorms with torrential rainfall continue
to impact much of rural northern Hudspeth County and southeastern
Otero County. A wide area of 1 to 2 inches of rain has fallen,
where 1 to 3 inches of rain already fell earlier in the week.
Given the areal coverage of the heavy rain, several slow-draining
washes in this warning area will flood, likely cutting off rural
back roads in the region. Low spots on FM-1111 between Cornudas
and the Sunset Ranches area. and and FM-2317 will likely become
flooded and impassable tonight into the morning hours. Retention
dams will limit flooding around Dell City, but some flooding in
washes coming from the north may occur.
– This includes the following washes…
Shiloh Draw, North Draw, Cornudas Draw, Four Mile Draw,
University Draw, Antelope Draw, and any others draining towards
Crow Flats or the Salt Flat area.
– Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Dell City, Cornudas, Salt Flat, and Crow Flats.

Instructions

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
