Northeastern Dundy County in southwestern Nebraska…
* Until 830 PM MDT/930 PM CDT/.
* At 713 PM MDT/813 PM CDT/, a severe thunderstorm was located 5
miles northeast of Stratton, or 9 miles west of Trenton, and is
nearly stationary.
HAZARD…Tennis ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE…Spotter report of 2 inch hail 8 miles north-northwest of
Stratton at 8:12 PM.
IMPACT…People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail
damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect
wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
* This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
northwestern Hitchcock and northeastern Dundy Counties.
Instructions
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
This storm is producing large hail. SEEK SHELTER NOW inside a sturdy
structure and stay away from windows!
Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is
one of nature’s leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder,
you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
If on or near Swanson Lake, get away from the water and move indoors
or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 15 miles
from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close
enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not
be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
