The National Weather Service in Rapid City has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for…
West Central Haakon County in west central South Dakota…
Southeastern Meade County in west central South Dakota…
Northeastern Pennington County in west central South Dakota…

* Until 845 PM MDT.

* At 744 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 9 miles south of
Union Center, or 41 miles northeast of Rapid City, moving southeast
at 35 mph.

HAZARD…Tennis ball size hail and 70 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail
damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect
considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to
mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include…
Wall, Union Center, Wasta, Enning, Elm Springs, Creighton and
Grindstone.

This includes Interstate 90 in South Dakota between Mile Markers 94
and 112.

Instructions

Anyone outdoors should move to shelter inside a well-built structure
and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing
widespread damaging winds and dangerous hail.

Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning is one of nature’s leading killers. Remember, if you can
hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
