Special Weather Statement issued August 12 at 7:31PM MDT by NWS North Platte NE
Details
At 730 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Julesburg to 6 miles northeast of Sixteen-
Mile Corner to Pleasant Valley. Movement was east-northeast at 30
mph.
HAZARD…Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and penny size hail.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include…
Ogallala, Imperial, Grant, Big Springs, Brule, Madrid, Venango,
Lamar, Barton, Champion, Crete, Chase, Eagle Gulch Campground,
Ruthon, Brandon, Megeath, Otter Creek Campground, Lake View
Campground, Wild Horse Spring, and Belmar.
This includes the following highways…
Highway 61 between mile markers 41 and 91.
Highway 92 between mile markers 122 and 131.
Interstate 80 in Nebraska between mile markers 90 and 129.
Highway 6 between mile markers 1 and 30.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM MDT for
the Panhandle of Nebraska. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch also remains
in effect until 200 AM MDT for southwestern Nebraska.
