EDOUARD WEAKENING…DOWNGRADED TO A TROPICAL DEPRESSION

NEW INFORMATION

* CHANGES TO WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
– All watches and warnings have been canceled

* CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS:
– None

* STORM INFORMATION:
– About 70 miles north of High Island TX or about 90 miles
west-northwest of Cameron LA
– 30.5N 94.6W
– Storm Intensity 35 mph
– Movement Northwest or 315 degrees at 8 mph

SITUATION OVERVIEW

Edouard has been downgraded to a Tropical Depression with the 10PM CDT
advisory. Maximum sustained winds are now estimated to be 35 mph, with
occasional tropical storm force gusts still possible through the next
couple of hours. A Wind Advisory will remain in effect through 1AM for
Tyler, Jasper, and Newton CO, as a result. The center of Edouard is
near NW Hardin CO at this time, moving NW, with the area of heaviest
rain situated north of the center. The threat for flooding rain will be
the main concern through the overnight period, as the storm continues
to weaken. A Flood Watch remains in effect for all of SE TX through
7AM.

POTENTIAL IMPACTS

Additional impacts from flooding rain are still a concern across
interior southeast Texas. Remain well guarded against life-threatening
flood waters having further impacts of extensive potential.

Little to no additional wind impacts expected.

– Community officials are now assessing the extent of actual wind
impacts accordingly.

Elsewhere across Southwest Louisiana and Southeast Texas, little to
no impact is anticipated.

* TORNADOES:
Additional impacts from tornadoes are still a concern across
Southwest Louisiana and Southeast Texas. Remain well braced against
tornado event having further limited impact potential.

Follow the advice of local officials.

* OTHER PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION:

Check on your neighbors. If necessary, help them connect with their
points of contact.

Allow extra time for emergency vehicles to reach you as they navigate
road hazards.

Do not go sightseeing within impacted communities. Sightseers
interfere with the emergency work of first responders.

Be alert for any lingering wind gusts which could take down weakened
trees and/or power lines, collapse damaged structures, or cause
flying debris.
