The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for…
Benton County in east central Iowa…
Iowa County in east central Iowa…

* Until 715 AM CDT.

* At 608 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 6 miles northeast of Tf Clark State Park to near
Vining to near Colfax, moving east at 60 mph.

HAZARD…70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated. This line of storms has a history of
producing severe wind gusts over portions of central Iowa.

IMPACT…Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable
tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes,
roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include…
Vinton, Marengo, Williamsburg, Belle Plaine, Atkins, Walford,
Urbana, Dysart, North English, Shellsburg, Victor, Newhall,
Blairstown, Van Horne, Keystone, Norway, Garrison, Ladora, Parnell,
and Millersburg.

This includes the following highways…
Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 205 and 229.
Interstate 380 between mile markers 40 and 48.

Instructions

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
sturdy building.

Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature’s leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.
